How easy is it to get a visa to work in canada

How easy is it to get a visa to work in canada?
I am in love with Canada and I have always wanted to live there. I am a nurse and I was wondering if it is easy to get a work visa. I have been nursing for two years, I am sick of america and I want to move. Will it be easy to get a work visa? I <3 New Zealand. I will think about it. I probably won't move for another 6 months- 1 year because I just had a baby 4 months ago. Thanks for the advice

Stuff Canada come to New Zealand! We have a desperate need for nurses in general and you'll find new zealand much cleaner!
2 :
It would actually be fairly easy; if you can show your qualifications. Nurses are in high demand here, and if you have a US education, which would generally be considered the same as a Canadian degree, you're likely to be in. Unless you have a criminal past, you should be OK. This might help: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/index.asp
3 :
You would need to apply for a nursing license in the province in which you want to work. They will assess your education and experience and decide if you are eligible to write the CRNE licensing exam. The minimum requirement for being an RN in Canada is a BSN degree so if you have less than that you will not be granted a license..You would have to also apply for a work visa. If you go to cic.gc.ca you can find out more.

The CD should work, as long as it was burned properly, and "closed" Some Vista users make a mistake of using Vista's burning to make a CD, and it fails to close the CD properly (it assumes you want to add more later). In those cases, I open it in Nero Burning Rom, and import the track on the CD, then "Finalize" (close) it - everything is readable then.

Can a my credit card thats from Canada, work in the US????
well im visiting my son in the US, and im wondering if i should bring my credit card which is in Canada. would it work if i withdraw money from an atm????

1 :
Yes, your credit card will work in the US, but it is a really bad idea to withdraw money on a credit card as they charge a lot of interest, and they charge it from the day you withdraw it, not from when you get your bill. Your Interac/debit card will also work in the US, however.
2 :
Use your bank card to take money out of your bank account. In most cases, debit will not work at merchants, so for those transactions you will have to use cash or your credit card.
3 :
Yes, you can withdraw money from an American ATM using your Canadian credit card. You will get the funds in U.S. money and when you get your credit card statement it will have been converted to a balance owing in Canadian funds (which should be very similar as exchange is almost even right now). You will however pay a service fee, usually $2.00 or $3.00, over and above your own bank fees each time you withdraw money from the ATM off your credit card. If you use your debit card (instead of credit card) in the ATM, the money comes directly out of your account and the service fee is little, if any. You can also use your Canadian credit card at stores/restaurants, etc., for purchases. As an above poster noted, however, your debit card may only be accepted at larger retailers.

In the Federal level not much is expected - even through the latest news from HRSDC. There are provinces in Canada however, that offer new pilot projects which would allow specific workers in certain occupational classification and levels that could work for 6-9 months, the be eligible to apply for permanent residency based on the service rendered. Alberta, Canada and Saskatchewan have such pilot programs. You can log on to the following links for specific occupations, nomination procedures etc.: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/provincial/apply-who.asp

The rules will result imposing stricter restrictions on employers in Canada. ETS has a trip calculator that will provide both the bus number and route as well as any transfers required. It also gives an approximation of the length of the trip as well. You can find it at http://coewebapps.edmonton.ca/external/transit/tripsolution.aspx Put in the location you are at and the time you want to depart, along with the destination and it will calculate for you. Takes a bit of tweeking and if you can't get it to work for you just call their office. They have people on the phone to advise you and they do a great job at helping you plan your trip.
2 :
In general, the bus system is designed to get people from place to place, along the main streets. In the out lying suburbs, the bus may only come in and stop at one place, so people have to walk a few minutes from their home, to get to a bus stop. in some cases, you may need to "transfer " from one bus route to another, to get to your final destination. This is normal practice all over the world. Haven't you lived where there was a bus system before ? Jim b. Toronto.
3 :
The City of Edmonton operates ETS (Edmonton Transit System) like most municipalities. There are major bus routes that connect from Transit Centres (hubs) which then Branch off to service areas / residential areas. There are certain bus routes that are great like the #8 Which Travels from Millwoods on the Southside (23rd avenue) to Abbotsfield (118th avenue) stopping at some key locations including several malls, libraries, the downtown core, etc. with stops all along the way that you can get off to transfer to another route if needed as well or to get to your destination. Dont be affraid to call ETS, they'll help you out. 780-496-1611 will let you talk to someone about planning your trip, you basically need to know your departing location, your destination and approximate time to arrive, or depart.

USA will not allow him to do that. Especially since you are NOT married. They dont like people living in USA but working across the border. (or vice versa) - it tells then that he is not serious about living in the USA. And it will be worse because he is NOT married to a US citizen. If you were married then they may allow him to cross the border. But since you are not married - NO WAY. Call the border patrol on the Canadian border and ask them. If he still does this while you are not married - then sooner or later he will be denied entry and he will be banned from entering USA for several years.

Is it important to be able to speak French to live and work in Canada

Is it important to be able to speak French to live and work in Canada?
Hi, i'm currently doing my Master's degree in England (I won't bore you with the details) and I was wondering, is it preferable to be able to speak French to live and work in Canada? I'm set on immigrating once I graduate and work in the media broadcasting industry. Cheers for your answers, 10 points to the best I promise.

It is in Quebec
2 :
Outside of Quebec province, French isn't really required except for government jobs. But you should be fluent in French if you want to work in Quebec, even if you're writing and broadcasting in English, because lots of Quebecois people express themselves better en francais.
3 :
I'm a Canadian, and I took French all throughout high school for that reason - that employers favour you over other potential employees. A lot of jobs do not require you to speak French at all, but that all depends on the profession you're looking into going into. Anything in politics will definitely require you to speak the language. Otherwise, it is simply an additional asset that you offer the company. Depending on where you choose to immigrate to is also another factor. In Ottawa, you will likely need French to communicate to roughly 50% of the citizens. Anywhere in Quebec is also largely French-speaking, and same goes for Northern Ontario. Overall, Canada is a really multicultural society, so ultimately any additional language will lwork in your favour in one aspect or another.
4 :
Not all canada speaks french. Quebec is the only one that is non versatile.
5 :
When you try to get your immigrant visa a knowledge of French gets you extra points, up to 10 extra if you are fluent.
6 :
Speaking French is not important or required anywhere except Quebec. If you live in Quebec, French might or might not be required depending on where you live, and the industry that you work in.
7 :
very important, also lobby with CBC to allow free viewing in the nasty country to the south regrds her majesty and all w/in sound of beau bells
8 :
fluency in your first language (in your case - english) gets you 16 points fluency in your second language (french) only gets you a further 8 points the total possible points for language is 24. French is NOT absolutely necessary unless you really really want to live and work in Quebec. Media broadcasting - well yes - French would certainly help BUT broadcasting is NOT a job that is in demand so you are unlikely to be permitted to immigrate if you actually do work in radio or on TV.

And Canada does not care if you work for a non-Canadian company. What they care about is that you do not take a job from a Canadian.

You may need to ask this question in one of the US categories, since it is the US secretary of state that would issue an ID. However, if you contact the Canadian Border Services Agency (do a search for them online and you will find the site and contact information, including a phone number), and someone there should be able to tell you if your restricted license is ok. Then you will need to check with the US border services to make sure it is ok for re-entering the US.

Can I find work in Canada without having to pay all the costs of becoming a citizen right away

Can I find work in Canada without having to pay all the costs of becoming a citizen right away?
I'm just getting tired of living in America and I have always been interested in living in another country. I'm wondering if it is possible, as a US citizen, to find any type of work in Canada without needing to do all the paperwork and pay large amounts of money to go through the Canadian citizenship process first? I guess this question could apply to any country really, not just Canada. I would appreciate any help from anyone who knows about this.

You have to go through the process to become a landed immigrant to work here LEGALLY (been there am that). You could get a student or temporary work visa but you will have to look into what hoops you have to jump through to do that. I lived and worked for a number of years before becoming a citizen it isn't a requirement. To live and work in Canada all you need is perminenant resident status. BTW try trolling for something else.
2 :
You will not permitted to work here, without a work permit. You must apply for one, and have a job offer from a company in Canada, which must prove that they cannot find a Canadian to fill that position. So in a word, no.
3 :
Paperwork first, completed in your own country. You don't become a Canadian citizen at once, you are admitted, if accepted, as a Landed Immigrant or Permanent resident. You have to wait three years to apply to become a citizen.
4 :
Just as it is very difficult and expensive to immigrate to the US it is just as hard to emigrate to another country. The only way to easily move to Canada is if you have a college degree that is one allowed for a "TN Visa" As for avoiding paperwork, that would make you an illegal immigrant there. After all the trouble we give illegals here, do you really want to be one in another country.

Operating an international business can be tricky on many levels. You really should see a lawyer that specializes in such things. A couple of thoughts for you: 1. You do not have a work visa for Canada. While US citizens can visit Canada without a visa, we can not work there without one. Being self employed is still working. 2. Your sales in Canada will be subject to Canadian tax laws. 3. You would need a business license in Canada. 4. Probably a dozen other things I have not though of yet.

Im sorry, this is just kind of rude. But You couldn't do that in any other country, why canada??? canada isn't the U.S. I couldn't get one if I wanted to work in the U.S. Whats the difference ?? But anyways, http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/work/index.asp See you soon :)
3 :
Of course not! Just as a Canadian cannot just work in the US without a visa. You will need to get a work visa to work in Canada.
4 :
You will need to get a work visa to work in Canada.
5 :
I believe you can visit there freely, but not work freely. If you receive a job there, you can apply for work visa
6 :
Not at all. Your American social Security is valid ONLY in the US. Canada is a different country with different laws. To work here in Canada you need a work visa, that cna be obtained through sponsorship from your employer. Once you get your work visa you'll have to apply here in Canada for your Social Insurance Number, because if you're working in Canada you'll have to pay taxes here as well. That's the govt website to look for the info on Canadian work visa http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/work/index.asp And this one is about your SIN card..(social insurance number) http://www.servicecanada.gc.ca/eng/s
7 :
NOt legally. You need a work permit.

You cannot be offered a job unless there are no Canadians or permanent residents who can take that job. An employer would have to do a wide search to prove that you are the only person who could do the job. Here's the immigration information:
2 :
I think it depends where you're from. I'm English and had to apply while I was in England.
3 :
You have to apply at the Canadian Embassy, in the country that you are a citizen of . Here is the general information website for Immigration to Canada. Read it carefully, as we have a number of different types of applications, depending on your skills, and your education levels. You can apply for a work visa that is usually for one or two years duration. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/work/index.asp Jim b. Toronto.

How can i go to canada to work as a Video editor

How can i go to canada to work as a Video editor?
Hello guys,I am a fully effecient Film editor and Vfx compositor in Mumbai, india.I have an experience of 2 years.Since a very long time i have been thinking to work in canada.recently i visited an immigration consultancy where they told me that i need to have minimum 4 years of expeirence to immigrate to canada.what if an employer hires me,will i get accomodation facility from the emloyer or will i have to find it on my own?

Please, forget it. There are no jobs for video editors. We already have hundreds of thousands of unemployed Canadians some of whom are also film editors. What few jobs there may be out there won't go to foreigners but to a qualified Canadian. No employer will hire you - we have more than enough unemployed film editors. My advice for you would be to just, please, stay in Mumbai until the economy improves here in Canada - in, say 3-5 years' time. Then, if you still think you can make in Canada, apply to immigrate and enjoy the fabulously long line up of other applicants who also want to come to Canada. We are currently working through close to one million applications and, as Canada only accepts about 250,000 qualified immigrants each year, I think you can see how long it would take for you. Canada accepts professionals in fields like medicine, nursing, engineering or qualified tradespeople - not film editors. Sorry, you're outta luck there.

How does someone from Canada work in the US

How does someone from Canada work in the US?
My friend is a Canadian college student and he is looking to come work with my company in the US during the summer as an internship. How does he go about doing this? Does he need a work permit? How long would this process take? please be specific

To work in the US, the following things must occur. First: There must be corporate sponsorship (which means a US based or US-owned company is hring your Canadian friend). To do so, they must first post the position (nationally), and prove to the US government that there are no qualified US citizens to handle the job. (This typically means having it up for at least 6 months, by the way ... and receiving NO qualified applicants). Then the company has to open up the application process to international applicants. Second: Your firend will have to throw his/her name and skills into the international application pot and hope that they come out on top. They will have to submit transcripts, resumes, reference letters, and a formal job application to the company in question. Third: Once an individual is chosen, the company must apply for the incoming individual's work visa (my guess is that they'll use the TN classification if they choose your Canadian friend, since the H1B status is a multi-year visa and much harder to obtain). The company will have to prove they have done due diligence in determining that the individual's academic standing meets or exceeds comparable US standards. They also need to prove that s/he has the experience and skills associated with the position. THEN they have to write a letter, ofering the job to the individual - including salary, length of employment, and all the background stuff above. Fourth: Now your friend has to bring all his/her documentation to the point-of-entry to obtain their visa (which is actually a stamp on their I-94). Part of their documentation MUST be a passport that is valid for at least 6 months beyond the end of the employment period stated in the employer's letter. If all the steps are followed correctly, the total time between first advertising the position to his entering the country will be a minimum of 6 months ... more likely on the order of a full year. (When I finally got to the US, the original job opening was first advertised internationally in 1998 ... I successfully obtained the position in the fall of 2004 - mostly due to US citizens applying, and being rejected as unsuitable every couple of months).

You can go to Canada as a tourist for up to six months but you may not work without a visa or access services .

you need to have a job, education and skills that are in demand and you can have a work permit that allows you to live in Canada for 1 to 3 years. but you must be educated, qualified and skilled to do one of the following jobs on this list http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/apply-who-instructions.asp#list

There would be no problem from the Canadian side. If he's a Canadian citizen, he doesn't lose that just because he has a US green card. Is there some restriction on him to travel? If he's allowed to go to Canada with his conditional green card, then he can work there. He might want to apply for a Nexus card to make his border crossings easier though. See http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/prog/nexus/menu-eng.html for Nexus.

My girlfriend and I are planning to work the the next winter ski season and maybe the remainder of the year in Canada. She is having major problems getting a Visa because she is Irish but living in England. We don't know what to do as we really want to run free with the moose. Thank you very much. Do you happen to know of ways for people to get job offers before they enter the country? I've noticed this is a requirement.

she can apply for a work permit. if she is legal in england then she should NOT have any problems. if she is ILLEGAL in england then she might have problems. she must then go back to ireland and apply from there. Oh yeah - a work permit implies you will stay at one place and work. if you want to run with the moose then she can come on a visitor visa and stay in canada for 6 months BUT she CANNOT work.

I am looking to drive across canada, roughly from Vancouver to Montreal, but I do not have a car. I think that renting would probably be pretty expensive, and I am only 20, so that might not work. A friend told me about various sites that allow people to have others drive their cars long distances for them, if they are moving or something, and I was wondering if anybody had any details on that, my attempts at research have been futile. My home phone service is with Company A. We had Company B over to our house (we were going to switch to Company B) but they would have had to run lines in plain sight to get phones where we want them - so we said no thanks to Company B. 2 weeks later, our phone is dead, Company A tells us they were requested to port our number to Company C (we never dealt with Company C nor did we ever contact them). Now we are waiting for Company C to port our number back to Company A. How does this happen?

It should. Usually we get them same things the United States of America and Mexico get, in terms of video games. We are all in the NTSC region and when companies release games or products, they usual refer to us as the north american region. The wife should present the work records of the husband in Canada to apply for a Canadian visa and be sure to prove that the husband can shoulder the expenses of the wife.

If your husband is working in Canada, he can process the papers needed by his spouse. If you want to go with him at the same departure then you have to ask the Canadian Embassy nearest to your place. I think that is case to case basis.

If you have a job while you are in Canada you can apply for permanent residence while you are here (usually you have to apply for PR status outside of the country). Once you get status as a landed immigrant you can apply for citizenship after 3 years.
2 :
You will have to find a company in Canada that is willing to sponsor you for employment. They will only hire you if there is no lawful Canadian resident or citizen that is able to fill the position. I suggest you visit this website http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/index.asp to learn more in obtaining a work visa. You also cannot become a citizen until you have obtained lawful residency for at least 3 years. Good Luck!!

Your work experience must be Skill Type 0 (managerial occupations) or Skill Level A (professional occupations) or B (technical occupations and skilled trades) on the Canadian National Occupational Classification (NOC). Can an international student work in Canada after suspended

Can an international student work in Canada after suspended?
A foreign student came to Ontario as an international university student. However, he got suspended because of failing grades. He would not be able to continue studying for 8 months. Does the VISA allow him to work in Canada during that period?
Higher Education (University +) - 1 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :

Hi. The student should contact Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) immediately. They require immediate reporting if there are any changes to the information submitted on the original Canadian Study Permit. Matter of fact, until recently students were suppose to report a change in their major, although that is no longer the case. If the CIC isn't contacted and the proper documentation isn't issued for the extension, the chances of the student picking up their studies at their Canadian university in 8 months is slim to none. I would imagine that the school is also reponsible for reporting both the student's suspension and reinstatement to the CIC, so it's doubtful that there's any getting around it from the student's perspective. Furthermore, student work permits are usually granted by the university at which the student is studying and generally only for 20 hours a week unless they are involved in a school-sponsored internship. Therefore, I would suspect that any documentation to stay in Canada to work between now and when the student is reinstated at their university would be different from any documentation they currently hold. The websites below should help. Good luck.

Sorry but you can't just "start working" in Canada 'cause you want to. You require a work permit and a job offer, neither of which is available to foreigners here on visitor's visas. Seriously, did you think you could just waltz into Canada and "get a job"? In case you didn't know, we have about 1.5 million citizens who are also looking for work but they are legally permitted to work whereas you aren't. We have laws and rules which any and all prospective immigrants must follow. Look through http://www.cic.gc.ca and read through the entire site carefully. In the meantime, you are simply not permitted to work while you are visiting Canada. Go home and apply from there.
2 :
You would have to apply for residency. You may not be able to do it from Canada if you're only visiting. Its unlikely that you would be permitted to legally work any time soon.
3 :
I would think you would have to apply for a residency card or a work visa---does not your live-in partner know...
4 :
Look up NAFTA visa. If you have a college degree in one of those fields you can look for work. Otherwise you have to apply for immigration which can take several years. Of he can apply for a spousal visa but you have to marry him If you want to move to Canada, here is a link to the Canadian government web site with the information. http://www.goingtocanada.gc.ca/CIC/display-afficher.do?id=0000000000102&lang=eng One of the most popular ways of entering Canada is as a skilled worker. How do addresses in Canada work

Everything is the same, with different abbreviations for provinces than we have for states so there is no overlap. For example, Molson Canada <--Beer! 1555, rue Notre Dame E. <--note the comma Montréal, PQ <-- = Quebec H2L 2R5 <--their version of a zip code, called a postal code (If you are mailing from outside Canada, you have to write Canada underneath the postal code and underline it.)
2 :
we have street, cities, provinces, country and postal code.
3 :
The main difference is the zip code. They don't call it zip codes they call it postal codes and there are letters and numbers in it. example: First-Name Last-Name 123 street name city, province A1B 2C3 <----- Postal Code The format is a letter then a number.
4 :
Good answers but Canada Post's addressing standards recent requirements put the postal code on the same line as the city and province. (see source link below) HOWEVER, It has been demonstrated (CITY-TV, Toronto 2005) that although unreliable is is possible to send something to a name and postal code: CITY-TV News desk M5V 2Z5
