Can you live and work in Canada forever if you have a British passport

Can you live and work in Canada forever if you have a British passport?
I live in Australia currently but due to my mother being born in England i am legible for an British passport. I really want to live in Canada and im aware that Canada has a lot of connections with Europe to be more specific France and the UK so i was wondering if you can live and work indefinitely in Canada with a British passport, you know... past the 12 month working visa limit?

No. It's extremely difficult to get a Canadian Work permit unless you have exceptional skill that are on their "In demand" list. what passport you have is not relevant. You're chances with an Australian passport is the same as it would be with a UK passport. The Canadian Government has an on-line site where you can see the current requirements
