In the Federal level not much is expected - even through the latest news from HRSDC. There are provinces in Canada however, that offer new pilot projects which would allow specific workers in certain occupational classification and levels that could work for 6-9 months, the be eligible to apply for permanent residency based on the service rendered. Alberta, Canada and Saskatchewan have such pilot programs. You can log on to the following links for specific occupations, nomination procedures etc.: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/provincial/apply-who.asp

All ways go to the source, for correct information. here is the main Canadian Immigration information website. READ it carefully about the new changes to the work permit rules. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/work/index.asp Copy it for future reference. Jim B. Toronto.

Canada government is all set to introduce new rules in the next month which will make it more difficult for firms offering sponsorships to international workers to come and work in Canada. The rules will result imposing stricter restrictions on employers in Canada. To come into effect from 1st April, 2011, the new rules for temporary foreign workers in Canada will effect almost every type of foreign worker wanting to work in Canada including live-in caregivers, oilpatch workers and so on.

ETS has a trip calculator that will provide both the bus number and route as well as any transfers required. It also gives an approximation of the length of the trip as well. You can find it at http://coewebapps.edmonton.ca/external/transit/tripsolution.aspx Put in the location you are at and the time you want to depart, along with the destination and it will calculate for you. Takes a bit of tweeking and if you can't get it to work for you just call their office. They have people on the phone to advise you and they do a great job at helping you plan your trip.

In general, the bus system is designed to get people from place to place, along the main streets. In the out lying suburbs, the bus may only come in and stop at one place, so people have to walk a few minutes from their home, to get to a bus stop. in some cases, you may need to "transfer " from one bus route to another, to get to your final destination. This is normal practice all over the world. Haven't you lived where there was a bus system before ? Jim b. Toronto.

The City of Edmonton operates ETS (Edmonton Transit System) like most municipalities. There are major bus routes that connect from Transit Centres (hubs) which then Branch off to service areas / residential areas. There are certain bus routes that are great like the #8 Which Travels from Millwoods on the Southside (23rd avenue) to Abbotsfield (118th avenue) stopping at some key locations including several malls, libraries, the downtown core, etc. with stops all along the way that you can get off to transfer to another route if needed as well or to get to your destination. Dont be affraid to call ETS, they'll help you out. 780-496-1611 will let you talk to someone about planning your trip, you basically need to know your departing location, your destination and approximate time to arrive, or depart.
