you can become a permanent resident and have the right to live and work in Canada with out being a citizen but you must qualify to immigrate to get permanent residency............the same applies for most countries If you just wanted to go to school in Canada you will need a student visa, you would not qualify for permanent residency until you finished your education and had work skills Canada needs

How does porting phone numbers in Canada work

How does porting phone numbers in Canada work?
My home phone service is with Company A. We had Company B over to our house (we were going to switch to Company B) but they would have had to run lines in plain sight to get phones where we want them - so we said no thanks to Company B. 2 weeks later, our phone is dead, Company A tells us they were requested to port our number to Company C (we never dealt with Company C nor did we ever contact them). Now we are waiting for Company C to port our number back to Company A. How does this happen?

Company C put in a request to port the number by mistake. Porting is just routing your existing telephone number from one telephone companies switching equipment to anothers.

canada has psn cards now an american psn card won't work if you have a canadian account so if you do get a psn card from the us you will have to make a US account (which isn't very hard)
3 :
It should. Usually we get them same things the United States of America and Mexico get, in terms of video games. We are all in the NTSC region and when companies release games or products, they usual refer to us as the north american region. Then again, if you want to use one that's from the USA, I think you'll have to make an US account. Anyways, we now have PSN cards too in Canada! XD

What are the requirements to sponsor wife, if husband is working in Canada on work permit?
We are planning to move to Canada but I want to know if my husband goes first on work permit to Canada, then how can he sponsor me (wife) from canada? Is it a long process and subject to acceptance and rejection of the Canadian government? What are the requirements? Please help!!!!

The wife should present the work records of the husband in Canada to apply for a Canadian visa and be sure to prove that the husband can shoulder the expenses of the wife.
2 :
If your husband is working in Canada, he can process the papers needed by his spouse. If you want to go with him at the same departure then you have to ask the Canadian Embassy nearest to your place. I think that is case to case basis.

Can my American husband work in Canada while waiting for his Canadian Permanent Residency

Can my American husband work in Canada while waiting for his Canadian Permanent Residency?
My sister married her husband in Las Vegas but they want to start their lives together in Canada. Can they wait in Canada for their Canadian paperwork, or work while in Canada? Can the kids go to school in Canada? Does she have to apply for a US visa to stay longer than 180 days while she waits for her family's paperwork?

Can my American husband work in Canada while waiting for his Canadian Permanent Residency? That depends on what category visa was used to apply for PR - family class inside Canada or family class outside Canada If it was inside Canada then he can stay in canada and will eventually be eligible to work on a work permit but not immediately. if it was outside canada then no he cannot work as he is not in Canada. Can they wait in Canada for their Canadian paperwork, or work while in Canada? YES but only if they apply as an inside application and he waits to be approved first. The first part of the application he is a visitor and as a visitor he cannot work. Part way through the processing, he will be approved for AIP (approval in principal) then he can get a work permit and work - but not before then. Can the kids go to school in Canada? YES but they MUST get a study permit first and if the schools charges fees (for foreign students - which they are allowed to do) then the parents must pay. Does she have to apply for a US visa to stay longer than 180 days while she waits for her family's paperwork? If she is staying in USA (and applying from outside of Canada) then yes of course she does!!!

First, a college in Canada is basically a trade school. It's where all the street smart people go (try getting a job with a masters in philosophy) Second, the grades are more relaxed. There is no SAT. You just need a 65% (for the worst universities). For the top notch like York or UoT, you need to sacrifice your first born or know someone who went (If your grades are below 85%). Universities in Canada have collective agreements with each other. Some are to the point that they're like teams. One team might have a GPA system of 12 points. Another team might have one of 8 points. And transferring from team to team.. don't bother. I'm only familiar with the 4 point system. Take all of your classes and average them together. 80% and above is 4.0. 75 to 80% is 3.5. yadda yadda yadda. Tuition is about 6k to 12k a semester. Our mid tier universities (Western) are ranked higher than the ivy league schools in the US.
2 :
Every US college and university has its own procedure, but here's basically what you need to do: 1) Complete an application (you can often find this at the colleges' website). More information: http://www.universitylanguage.com/guides/how-to-fill-out-a-college-or-us-universit-application/ 2) Take standardized tests, such as the ACT or SAT. These are offered around the world. More information: http://www.universitylanguage.com/guides/SAT-vs-ACT-Testing-for-College/ 3) If English isn't your native language, you may have to take the TOEFL. More information: http://www.universitylanguage.com/guides/taking-the-toefl/ 4) Get a student visa. Would an Xbox 360 console and games bought in Canada work in Europe plug/game wise

Would an Xbox 360 console and games bought in Canada work in Europe plug/game wise?
Ok so this is my problem, I want to buy an XBOX 360 from here, in Canada as well as Halo 3 here or just any game to satisfy me. I wanted to know if this same xbox 360 console would work in Europe like being able to plug it in with some kind of watt changer and also being able to run those Canadian purchased games in Europe. Any help? Thanks.
Xbox - 2 Answers

You will need to buy US games, or other REGION-FREE games in order to play. Sorry, cannot play PAL games on that console. XBox 360 console absolutely works 100% with a European power converter, the same things US & Canadian tourists use when travelling abroad. If there are similar stores to RadioShack in Canada, see if they sell what you are looking for <they closed Canadian Radioshacks, tho>. They can cost from $60-$100. Just remember that it's for something that can handle 250watts <like for computer equipment, appliances, etc>.
2 :
An Xbox and games bought in Canada will work - The Xbox will automatically change the power wattage - You will have to use a converter for the plug though Games will work fine - although you wont be able to buy new ones in europe as they will be from the PAL region. Hope this helps!

Its almost like school, you sit and your mother will teach you the basics/advanced studies of the required classes.
2 :
It really depends on how you plan to do it. Some people use preset curriculum's, do it through an online program or they make up the curriculum themselves. My mom always put together the curriculum on her own, to make it fit me and my academic needs. When I was younger she would write down what I needed to do in a journal and give me a brief overview of what I was going to do, what might be hard and any other details I might need. Then, she would go and work with my brothers while I worked on something from the list and every once in awhile she would check in with what I was doing and help me with anything difficult. Now that I am older and more capable of working without supervision, I have all my schoolbooks in my bedroom and I decide what I do and when I do it. I have a plan book where I write down what I do everyday and as I go, I keep track of the hours I spend on each subject. Sometimes, if my mom isn't really busy, she'll check in with me during the day, but a lot of times she just talks to me about what I did in the afternoon or evening. One thing about homeschooling is that is is A LOT of independent work. If you have never done it before, it will probably be a shock to you! Overall though, its a lot of fun. Its nice to be able to work at your own pace! I hope I helped and good luck!

It depends on if it's an international phone or not.. they need to be able to understand the different kind of cell phone signal that is sent in Europe because it's different here in North America. Although, sometimes it's easy enough to just get one of those phones and put your Slovenian sim card in it and have it work... The other issues is that I'm fairly sure that it will work physically, but it might be possible that the carrier they were designed for has blocked the feature as I know Verizon will do a lot... but from what I understand AT&T doesn't do that as much.... I'm pretty sure that it should work.. but you might drop calls and stuff more often because the bands are different... my co-workers and I have foreign phones and they all work here... so I think you'll be fine. So I would say that it will probably work.... but you will definitely need your Slovenian SIM.. P.S. I have a friend from Slovenia... I think it's really cool that you're from there! The food--- mmmmm sooo good!

Make a list of the tools. Include a serial # for any that have one. Most power tools should have a serial #. Make sure that you declare them to Canada Customs when you enter the country and ask them to put a customs stamp on your list. Show that list to US customs when you leave and you should have no problems at all.
2 :
knh959 is correct in giving the safest option. I'll make a wild guess here and say that most of your tools wouldn't be mistaken as brand new. As long as you don't buy tools in Canada, you don't have to pay duties on them.

The costs varies, you should contact a local immigration lawyer for this purpose & they will tell you. You can do it urself as well but the procedure is complicated & u are prone to make mistakes. Most of the lawyers (or firms e.g. Pricewaterhousecoopers aka PWC) have fixed price for the work done. PWC is well known in corporate immigration matters, cost a bit on top than others, but they prepare the case solid & well documented (I am not advertising for them, u can choose one of ur own choice, I am just giving example). Good luck.
2 :
if your relative gets a job with a canadian company (very doubtful) the only cost they pay is the airfares. the company pays for the work permit. if you wish to apply for it without a job, then it costs CAD$150 (if you are approved). A lawyer is not necessary.
3 :
If you are getting a Lawyer or Immigrant consultant, that is an additional cost. You can do it on your own. It varies from place to place. Call CIC or check their website to be accurate how much it is. www.cic.gc.ca You do not need a representative, if you can do it yourself.

If you are doing warranty work or installation work or repair work of Canadian equipment sold to an American co, then you can work in the US, provided you have the proper documentation provided by your employer as prescribed in the NAFTA. The easiest way is with a TN visa. However, until you get Canadian citizenship, the TN is not available to you. If the Canadian company has a US office, they can apply for an L visa for you which is for intra company transfers. However, they are harder for non-Canadian citizens. Otherwise you have to get an H-1B. However there are exxentially no employers looking for H-1B hires rightnow unless you have some incredibly unique skills.

3 :
The easiest way is with a TN visa. However, until you get Canadian citizenship, the TN is not available to you. If the Canadian company has a US office, they can apply for an L visa for you which is for intra company transfers. However, they are harder for non-Canadian citizens. Otherwise you have to get an H-1B. However there are exxentially no employers looking for H-1B hires rightnow unless you have some incredibly unique skills.

After you turn 18, you will probably be able to get a Working Holiday visa for Canada, but you have no chance until then. For info go to: http://www.whpcanada.org.au/introduction.shtml
2 :
the only visa you will qualify for is a working holiday visa
3 :
Do you know how many young canadians attend college and graduate with diplomas in hospitality management? Thousands every year. My husband was one of them. Now he cannot even get a job in that sector and he is Canadian. This is what is in demand 0631: Restaurant and Food Service Managers 0632: Accommodation Service Managers SOURCE http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/apply-who-instructions.asp#list REQUIREMENTS Employment requirements for Canada - - Completion of a college or other program related to hospitality or food and beverage service management is usually required. (YES you have that) - Several years of experience in the food service sector, including supervisory experience, are required. Have you done any of the duties on a day to day basis (631 & 632 links) as listed above. Have you worked in this sector for several years? If NO then you will NOT be eligible. There is a recession here in Canada so there is high unemployment Canadians and PRs MUST BE HIRED before foreigners.

How long does it take for processing of Canada work visas in Manila?
Is it true that Canada work visas are processed in a short span of time than the Canada Embassy in Manila?

Yes, it is being reported that Canadian Embassy in Mnilla is processing applications at slow rate As per the official figures, presently, the number of applications being processed for Canada work permits by Filipino nationals happens to be just one out of 20 such applications and that too in 28 days time. This ratio of processing of Canada work permits at Canada Embassy in Manila comes to just around 5 percent.
2 :
Skilled worker immigration visas to Canada from Manila are currently taking 5 to 6 years to process - http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/international/02a-skilled-fed.asp scroll down to Manila Other visa categories may have different times - but Philippines, India and Pakistan are notoriously slow due to the large numbers of applicants received every month.

How can an american get a canada work visa to be with her aussie lifepartner who has one?
My australian partner has a two year canadian work visa and I want to come and work in canada so we can be together. She has to leave america every 3 months on her current holiday visa.

I believe there is a special visa for your case. When someone has a valid work visa, this person can bring his spouse to live with him. You can only live there and not work. If you are married apply for this visa and if you are not married and want to live there then tell him to marry you. The only way to obtain a work visa for canada is to find an employer whos willing to offer you a job.
2 :
you need to apply for a work permit on your own and apply for jobs in the same city. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/work/index.asp read this page and see if you QUALIFY. You said PARTNER. Have you been living together for 12 months or more already? If yes then your partner can apply for you to come as a dependent - BUT they MUST SHOW proof of the relationship.

Depends on where you are from. Right now, things are pretty chaotic in Europe and Italy's debt situation isn't much better than that of Greece. However - if you're looking for something that's going to be more fun than just doing a job, and you live in North American, I'd choose Italy. If you're from Europe, I'd choose Canada.

How does Shipping on Ebay work (Canada)

How does Shipping on Ebay work (Canada)?
I mean, some times it says $8.99 for a (i.e) Magic the gathering booster box, and $62 for shipping for a Modern Painting...http://myworld.ebay.com/art_painting_sculptures/ (those ones it says $62) And this is all in Canada (I live in Canada, so it's not a overseas charge) Kinda confused, help would be appreciated.
Yahoo! Shopping - 1 Answers

1 :
Okay, the seller with the paintings is doing something that is really illegal on ebay - that is, selling an item for almost nothing, meanwhile pumping up the shipping price to a ridiculous amount. This is against ebay rules and this seller should be reported to ebay for doing this. Since the paintings are large, they would normally cost about 25 dollars to ship. But the seller has added the value of the painting to the shipping cost. He thinks he is getting away with not paying a larger final value fee to ebay; however, those days are over. Ebay now charges a final value fee on the entire transaction, including shipping. You really should report him to ebay for excessive shipping fees. Ebay will make him correct the fees or ban him from selling on ebay. He gives good sellers a bad name by doing this. And this is just a great example of why you should always read the ad in its entirety and ask questions before bidding, so you aren't surprised in any way once the auction is over.

Hi everyone I am from Pakistan and looking for work in saskatchewan, Canada.?
I have done my Masters in English from University of the Punjab, Pakistan and wish to work in canada. Can anyone help me get a job in Saskatchewan, Canada? I have visited the official websites but they are so full of information and carry the reader to at least 6 levels deep with nothing making sense. I wish to apply for Immigration to Canada and work there as Teacher in Saskatchewan. Please do let know the details as early as possible at my following e-mail address, I will be thankful to you for your personal endeavors and understanding my problem. my add is kaisermaani@gmail.com

You should fist find out from Canada's site on how to get a work permit.
2 :
You won't get a visa for a teacher, there are too many teachers unemployed already. If you have a Masters in English you should be able to use that site
3 :
If you want work as a teacher, here's a tip: start looking in the small towns rather than the big cities. It's almost impossible to get a teaching job in Saskatoon, for example. But it seems like small town schools are hiring left and right. I know many many people who live in Saskatoon but commute to small communities outside the city to teach. I'm not positive if the other major cities (Regina, Prince Albert, Moose Jaw, etc) are the same, but I imagine they are. Small towns are booming in this province, and therefore requiring more and more teachers. I wish you the best of luck! :)
4 :
Yahoo! Answers is not a job hunting website. The average person reading your question will NOT be able to help you find a job. We either must be an employer who is looking for someone, or be willing to sponsor you to come over and find employment. I do not wish to insult you, but there are some fundamental differences in the quality of education in Pakistan compared to Canada. You would have impressed me more with having done your Masters in English if you had actually used correct punctuation and sentence structure, such as what I would have expected from someone with your degree. I'm sure any school in Canada that considers hiring a teacher for English would expect that person to have an impeccable grasp of the language and demonstrate that in their letters and emails. All I can suggest to you is that you review the Canada Immigration website again. It clearly states the requirements for immigrating to Canada. You must have skills that are in demand here (Skilled Worker Program), you must have enough money to start your own business (Entrepeneur and Self-Employed Persons), or must have a family member already here who is willing to sponsor you. Otherwise there are very few options. It is very hard to enter Canada under refugee status, or as a provincial nominee. If you can find a job on the Job Bank of Canada, and the company is willing and able to employ you, then you have a chance of immigrating here. But I highly doubt that you would qualify as an English teacher. Perhaps you should consider a profession that also employs similar skills? Have you considered applying as a Translator? With many new Canadians arriving from Pakistan and India, there may be a bigger need in the government for English-Punjabi or English-Urdu services. Hope things do work out for you. Good luck.

Being an american and working for several multinational firms with employees all over the world including Canada and Australia, I used to think Canada was the best place because of proximity to american markets and an abundance of natural resources and good relations with america. But I've changed my opinion over the last decade and think Australia is better. Not by a whole lot but a significant amount. Canada is old feeling They like to keep things the same and all the innovative people seem to migrate down here to the US. They should be rolling in money with their oil and timber and ores and gold but seem to stall quickly when US suffers. The government doesn't seem to be able to put it's natural resources to work to make all of it's citizens wealthy. In technology, there is no tech city where creative solutions are burgeoning Australia on the other hand seems so much more optimistic about their future. Plus they are in a great location to world markets and have abundant resources. Plus they are an island continent so enemies are far away and not likely to up their defense spending much. The engineers I have met seem to have a confidence that is lacking in Canadians. They think they can fix any problem and also seem to get into their work. They have a sense of humor and value education. They know their nation is getting more prosperous and have the attitude the sky is the limit. Even the immigration bureau seems to want you more and makes you feel valuable if you are an engineer. They will tell you straight out what skills they need and where the shortages are. In a nutshell, Australia beats out Canada on good attitude , technical prowess is on the rise, and youthful thinking and more willing to take chances on projects They both are great countries with healthy balance sheets. They both have low populations with huge areas of land. Canada has probably 3/4 of it's land in areas too cold for most people to live in permanently and practically no beaches for sun worshipers. The point to this is they don't build roads, buildings and even dams where the people aren't. So Canada's population has pretty much stagnated by the border cities by US with the exceptions of Calgary and Edmonton. Anyway, this isn't to put Canada down at all. I think it is a fantastic country also. They have a healthy financial system and health care and good schools. And if they would start selling more of their resources to other countries and get more basic research facilities into place for new industries they could be number one easy in my book. You can't be to wrong whether you chose Australia or Canada. Like I said, I give Australia a slight edge mainly based on good attitudes towards the future. The population rate is growing in Australia a little faster than Canada, and with more population more roads, buildings water systems and sewage facilities need built. Plus Australia is quite a bit closer to India for those flights to visit relatives. Australia is warm with great potential for solar power and wind energy from coastal areas, some undeveloped hydroelectric potential and access from all sides to china , south America, Indonesia , India etc.

Canada I suppose coz it has a higher annual national income, this means more construction, jobs and ... has more population and higher rate of growth.

Canada sucks. It's cold, expensive, dirty and stupid. Old sick people everywhere because of the aging population. Guess what, they're not getting younger. For you I recommend either the UAR or Australia for sure. Stay the h11 from Canada. Also, Philippines would probably be best if u have a chance to go there.
2 :
i totally agree with the first poster. canada is no place for you, it's cold and expensive. a terrible place. i suggest Dubai, or yeah even Australia. i hear europe has a shortage of wedding stage designers.
3 :
Its very hard to get a visa to australia especially if you want to live here. You need to proove you have the skills to benefit the economy
4 :
Australia has much better weather but I'm afraid that your skills as a wedding/event planner or designer are not listed on any of our required occupations lists so you would not be able to get an Australian immigration visa. Following is the list on which your occupation must be for you to have any chance of getting a visa: http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/pdf/1121i.pdf
5 :
Wedding Stage Designer and Event Planner - this is not a skill that is in demand in either country - therefore I seriously doubt you will be eligible to immigrate as a skilled worker. Neither country is very easy, cheap or fast to get Visa!!!! Australia is very strict and Canada can take a long time from Asia - 5 to 6 years is quite normal.

It would actually be fairly easy; if you can show your qualifications. Nurses are in high demand here, and if you have a US education, which would generally be considered the same as a Canadian degree, you're likely to be in. Unless you have a criminal past, you should be OK. This might help: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/index.asp
