I have never before considered applying for a job in Canada however I love Victoria and Vancouver and am interested in relocating. However I have a question. Do engineering/survey firms in Canada work in the metric system of measurement ? Thank you for the response.

How can an american get a canada work visa to be with her aussie lifepartner who has one?
My australian partner has a two year canadian work visa and I want to come and work in canada so we can be together. She has to leave america every 3 months on her current holiday visa.

I believe there is a special visa for your case. When someone has a valid work visa, this person can bring his spouse to live with him. You can only live there and not work. If you are married apply for this visa and if you are not married and want to live there then tell him to marry you. The only way to obtain a work visa for canada is to find an employer whos willing to offer you a job.

you need to apply for a work permit on your own and apply for jobs in the same city. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/work/index.asp read this page and see if you QUALIFY. You said PARTNER. Have you been living together for 12 months or more already? If yes then your partner can apply for you to come as a dependent - BUT they MUST SHOW proof of the relationship.
